Cubic‘s mission solutions business unit has deployed satellite antennas and personnel across Puerto Rico to provide connectivity support to hurricane relief operations.
The company said Monday its GATR antennas are currently working to deliver cellular and internet service in the island of Vieques to facilitate communications between residents, businesses, local government officials and relief organizations.
GATR also supported the reactivation of a cell service that enables communications with 911 dispatchers.
The 7.9-foot portable antenna was mounted on the roof of the U.S. Army National Guard to put up a free Wi-Fi hotspot for disaster victims.
Mike Twyman, president of Cubic Mission Solutions, said GATR antennas are designed to provide satellite connections for emergency responders and give victims access to data, video and voice communications.
Cubic works with non-profit organization Global Disaster Immediate Response Team and cellular networking company Vanu in the effort to restore connectivity in Puerto Rico.
