Lockheed Martin‘s aeronautics business has landed a potential $60 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to identify and implement measures to reduce the cost of producing the F-35 air system.
The Defense Department said Monday the full obligated amount at the time of award is from Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force aircraft procurement funds.
Work under the modification will occur through July 2020 in California, Texas and the U.K.
The Navy awarded Lockheed a potential $1.8 billion contract in April to obtain long-lead parts and other components for lot 12 F-35s.
