Lockheed Martin has partnered with Elbit Systems‘ U.K. arm to develop a technology offering for the British navy’s electronic warfare modernization program.
Both companies signed a teaming agreement to pursue the Maritime Electronic Warfare Program that seeks to update EW systems on Royal Navy destroyers, frigates, amphibious assault ships and the service branch’s future submarines, said Wednesday.
Paul Livingston, vice president of integrated systems at Lockheed’s UK subsidiary, the partnership aims to combine maritime technology and systems integration capacities of both companies in an effort to address MEWP requirements.
The partnership was unveiled at the Defence Systems & Equipment International event in London.
Lockheed has previously developed and integrated complex maritime systems for the Royal Navy and U.S. Navy while Elbit Systems holds more than 30 years of naval system design and development experience.
