The State Department has approved the Netherlands’ request to acquire an additional 70 Lockheed Martin-built AGM-114R Hellfire II missiles under a potential $34 million foreign military sales agreement.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday the proposed transaction will be an addition to a previously implemented FMS case for the procurement of 180 Hellfire II missiles and 24 M36E8 captive air training missiles along with various support elements worth a total of $26.3 million.
The Netherlands also ordered a launcher test station, LTS spares, maintenance support devices, logistics support tools and M299 launcher software updates along with aircrew familiarization training, launcher test station training, technical assistance and program support services.
DSCA noted the country will integrate the additional missiles on its AH-64D Apache helicopters as part of efforts to address homeland defense and regional threats and support coalition operations.
The U.S. also seeks to assist the Netherlands in efforts to develop and maintain a self-defense capacity through the potential FMS deal.
