Orbital ATKÂ has demonstrated the common fuze for a medium caliber round fired from its M230 Link Fed Bushmaster Chain Gun during the Bushmaster User Conference at Big Sandy Range in Arizona.
The company said Monday it used the common fuze approach in both 30mm and 40mm programmable air-bursting rounds and expects the fuze to support air-bursting, point-detonating and proximity ammo requirements once qualified.
Orbital ATK has begun development work on new types of rounds as part of its advanced ammunition programs and those include the Super 40mm ammunition family and 40mm PABM cartridge.
The firm plans to showcase the proximity round at the next Bushmaster User Conference to be held in the spring of 2018.
The TV program “GunnyTime with R. Lee Ermeyâ€Â is scheduled to feature Wednesday the company’s common fuze ammo for the M230 gun on Outdoor Channel.
