Raytheon has received a $64.6 million contract option from the U.S. Air Force to update the guidance section of a company-built air-to-air missile system.
The Defense Department said Thursday Raytheon will continue to support form, fit, function and refresh efforts for the Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile‘s guidance segment.
The contract includes foreign military sales to Norway, Turkey, Japan, Romania and Australia.
Work will occur through April 13, 2018, at Raytheon’s facility in Tucson, Arizona.
The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center will obligate $43.1 million at the time of the award from fiscal 2016 Air Force production and fiscal 2017 Navy production funds.
AMRAAM is designed to provide operational support in various scenarios such as air-to-air and surface-launch engagements.
