Executive Profile: Diana Burley, Executive Director & Chair of I3P

Diana Burley has served as executive director and chair at the Institute for Information Infrastructure Protection since October 2015.

She is also full professor of human and organizational learning at the George Washington University.

Burley previously worked as an associate professor, director of executive leadership doctoral program and chair of the human and organizational learning department at GW.

The cybersecurity workforce specialist also held the role of a program director at the National Science Foundation, where she managed various computer science education grant programs and led the CyberCorps initiative.

Burley also currently co-chairs the ACM Joint Task Force on Cybersecurity Education and previously co-chaired the U.S. National Research Council Committee on Professionalizing the Nation’s Cybersecurity Workforce.

She has written almost 75 publications on cybersecurity, information sharing and information technology-driven change.

Agencies such as the NSF and the National Security Agency as well as technology firms IBM and Intel have supported Burley’s research efforts.

She served on the boards of directors at Goodwill Industries International, AlphaTech Group, and the U.K.’s National Cyber Security Centre Cybersecurity Body of Knowledge Project.
