Huntington Ingalls Industries has provided more than $100,000 in total funds to help finance science, technology, engineering and math projects of 28 schools and educational groups in Alabama and Mississippi.
The funds were awarded through a STEM grant program managed by HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division, the company said Tuesday.
“Ingalls is proud to provide STEM grants to our local schools to help encourage student pursue these fields,” said Edmond Hughes, vice president of human resources and administration at Ingalls Shipbuilding.
“When students in our community are exposed to STEM and teachers are provided proper resources, all parties have the opportunity to be successful. Ultimately, we may be investing in our next engineering leader,” Hughes added.
