Former Raytheon Chairman and CEO William Swanson has joined the advisory board of New York-based emergency communications technology provider RapidSOS.
RapidSOS said Tuesday that Swanson will bring more than 40 years of experience in cybersecurity, defense and communications to the advisory board.
“Bill led the development and deployment of technologies that brought safety and security to millions of people globally,” said RapidSOS CEO Michael Martin.
“We are excited to bring that expertise to RapidSOS’ mission of transforming personal safety, security, and wellness,” Martin added.
Raytheon’s stock price and dividend tripled as sales reached nearly $25 billion during Swanson’s 10-year leadership at the Massachusetts-based defense contractor.
Swanson joined Raytheon in 1972 and served in various leadership positions such as manufacturing manager, senior vice president and general manager of the missile systems division, general manager of the electronic systems business and president of electronic systems.
He is currently a member of different boards affiliated with federal agencies and cybersecurity companies such as the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.
