Smiths Detection has opened a Hemel Hempstead, England-based facility for engineering, research and production of chemical and explosive detection technologies.
The company said Thursday it will develop security products for the aviation, military and emergency response sectors at the new 67,000-square-foot center of excellence for trace detection.
The facility is located nearly 11 miles from Smiths Detection’s previous manufacturing hub in Watford.
“We had quite simply outgrown our previous facility in Watford and needed a site that would allow us to respond quickly and adapt to our customers’ growing demands,” said Smiths Detection President Richard Ingram.
