Riverbed Technology has released a new survey that found nearly all of the 335 federal employee respondents believe latency issues from bandwidth-intensive applications have negatively impacted agency productivity.
Riverbed said Tuesday one in three respondents reported that it takes more than 24 hours for an agency to address application failures and crash, freezes, speed and load time of the applications have been sources of employee frustration.
The company noted that more than half of the surveyed federal employees think that their respective agency’s networks cannot handle cloud migrations and future rollouts such as the Census 2020 and the respondents seek updates to address app responsiveness and glitch resolution speeds.
“We’re finding many federal agencies don’t have the visibility tools they need to quickly solve trouble areas before they cause application performance issues,” said Davis Johnson, vice president of Riverbed’s public sector business.
“What’s needed to prevent performance issues from spoiling the promise of federal IT modernization and digital transformation is better end-to-end application and network visibility.”
Riverbed added 77 percent of agencies have defined a process on how to report an information technology issue, but 32 percent of respondents said it takes more than a day for agencies to address application failures.
