Jacobs Engineering Group has secured a four-year contract from London’s Heathrow Airport for engineering and planning services to aid the airport’s expansion efforts.
Jacobs said Tuesday it will oversee design activities for the airfield, earthworks and highways along with support to the Heathrow Integrated Design Team composed of seven aviation design and planning organizations selected for the expansion.
“As a member of the IDT, we look forward to contributing our proven expertise to help Heathrow create resilient and efficient plans for sustainable expansion,†said Bob Duff, a Jacobs senior vice president for buildings and infrastructure.
Barry Weekes, Heathrow Airport’s head of design, said finalization of the IDT members will support the design and engineering schedule of the expansion efforts and the group will look to deliver U.K.’s newest runway to boost the country’s airport capacity.
