A team comprised of Modern Technology Solutions Inc. and nonprofit SOAR Oregon has received a contract from Airbus Group‘s A3 Silicon Valley outpost to provide flight test and range services for A3’s self-piloted flying vehicle platform.
MTSI said Thursday it will lead the flight test of A3’s Vahana platform while SOAR Oregon will provide test range support and other services under the contract.
The contract involves the prototype Alpha Phase that aims to identify and address technical and certification risks prior to a flight test at the end of 2017, MTSI added.
Vahana is a self-piloted vehicle designed to support individual passenger and cargo transport as well as to provide automated electric vertical take-off and landing function for the on-demand mobility market.
A3 serves as Airbus’Â projects and partnerships outpost that seeks to “disrupt” Airbus and the aerospace industry.
