The Agriculture Department’s Forest Service has started its search for potential industry sources of professional services in the areas of geographic information systems, GPS, cartography, remote sensing and other geospatial activities.
The Forest Service said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Wednesday the sources sought notice is part of the agency’s market research effort for a potential five-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for services in support of the agency’s Geospatial Service and Technology Center.
Potential contractors would be asked to perform geospatial analysis and consultation work as well as provide geospatial training in the use of GIS, GPS, mobile field collection tools and remote sensing platforms.
The Forest Service also seeks services in the area of geospatial modeling and workflow automation that covers geospatial data processing, land cover monitoring, geospatial programming, development of web-based geospatial applications, technology assessment, production of base mapping products, technology transfer and technical support.
The Forest service said it expects to award the proposed single-award contract in June 2017 with a plan to start the contract transition on Aug. 1, 2017.
Responses to the sources sought notice are due Oct. 28.
