QinetiQ North America and Milrem have introduced a modular, hybrid unmanned ground vehicle the companies designed to help soldiers perform their missions on the battlefield.
Titan is built to incorporate Milrem’s Tracked Hybrid Modular Infantry System for military applications along with QinetiQ’s tactical robot controller and robotic applique kit, Milrem said Monday.
The vehicle is built to comply with requirements of the U.S. Army’s Squad Multipurpose Equipment Transport Initiative, which seeks autonomous vehicles that can haul soldier gear, charge additional devices, fit in the back of a helicopter and transport sensors and weaponry.
Titan also is designed to accommodate different structures onto its middle vehicular platform for operations in areas such as such as rescue, transport, combat and reconnaissance.
Jon Hastie, a product manager at QinetiQ North America, said the vehicle is intended to help reduce workloads for troops and keep them safe.
The vehicle will be put on exhibit during the AUSA 2016 in Washington, D.C. Monday through Wednesday.
