Health research managementATCC has received a potential seven-year, $32 million subcontract from a Leidos subsidiary to manage a National Cancer Institute biospecimen repository in Frederick, Maryland.

ATCC said Tuesday its team will store and distribute biospecimens to basic and clinical investigators who support cancer and infectious disease research efforts as well as manage operational costs and logistics at NCI’s Frederick Central Repository.

The subcontract will be funded through Leidos Biomedical Research‘s prime contract with NCI and the National Institutes of Health.

The Frederick Central Repository is part of the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research, an NCI-sponsored federal national laboratory that Leidos Biomed helps operate.

The repository contains more than 15 million clinical specimens and provides biospecimen collection management services to the NCI and other government agencies.

Manassas, Virginia-based ATCC is a nonprofit biological materials management organization that provides research and development, products and services to support global health issues.
