Andy Peters, a senior vice president and chief safety officer of AECOM, has been appointed by the U.S. Labor Department to serve on DOL’s advisory committee on construction safety and health.
Peters will work with the 15-member panel to assist Labor Secretary Thomas Perez in efforts to develop workplace safety and health strategies for the construction industry, AECOM said Thursday.
AECOM Chairman and CEO Michael Burke said Peters’ commitment to safety has helped the company create a culture of safety in the workplace.
Peters has led the establishment of the Safety for Life and Culture of Caring programs that seek to help AECOM meet its goal of reducing employee injuries, property damage and threats to the environment.
AECOM met its safety performance target in 2015 as a result of Peters’ leadership efforts, the company noted.
