Raytheon will offer an Americanized version of an interceptor platform designed by Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems that will be used to support a U.S. Army program that seeks to defend against a threat spectrum, Defense News reported Monday.
Barbara Opall-Rome writes Raytheon looks to locally produce and transform the Iron Dome platform’s Tamir interceptors to meet U.S. standards and if selected for the Army’s IFPC Inc 2-I program will team up to govern prospective sales.
The U.S. Defense Department will also require Raytheon and Rafael to serve as contractor and subcontractor respectively for the future SkyHunter brand interceptors with a 60-40 percent division of production labor, the report noted.
“The minute that the US decides to procure Iron Dome, we will transfer all the knowledge and production file to Raytheon,†Yosi Druker, head of Rafael’s air superiority systems business unit, told Defense News.
