Boeing and engineering company Bastion Technologies have signed up for NASA‘s mentor-protege program with the goal to build up the latter company’s aerospace market expertise.
The two companies aim to exchange manufacturing, quality, marketing and business development strategies under an agreement that will run for 18 months, Boeing said Tuesday.
Bastion President Jorge Hernandez said the company’s partnership with Boeing started with the digital pre-assembly of the International Space Station and has extended to the CST-100 Starliner project.
John Mulholland, vice president and program manager of commercial programs at Boeing, said the company also seeks to accelerate its support of NASA’s human spaceflight missions through the agency’s mentor-protege program.
Boeing noted it awarded more than $5 billion in contracts to small and diverse businesses during 2015.
Houston-based Bastion is a small, minority-owned company that offers mechanical, electrical and structural design and analysis, systems engineering, information technology and safety and mission assurance services.
