The United Health Foundation has issued a three-year, $800,000 grant to support service members, veterans and military families in Colorado Springs in an effort to address the needs of the military and veteran community.
UHF said Friday the grant is intended to provide military personnel and their spouses access to information and services through military, veteran and community-based organizations under the Peak Military Care Network.
With the grant, PMCN will work to expand its network of partners to support communication and collaboration, update the Network of Care website, grow education and outreach efforts and provide case management services to assist in the health and well-being of members.
“With such a large military community in this region, these resources will expand our programs and provide meaningful support that will help improve their lives,” said Kate Hatten, PMCN president and CEO.
PMCN programs cover child welfare, crisis intervention, social services, education and behavioral, medical and physical health.
Beneficiaries from the Pikes Peak region in Colorado Springs occupy an area with one of the highest concentrations of military personnel — with Fort Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station and the U.S. Air Force Academy all located there, UHF noted.
The foundation announced the grant on Military Spouse Appreciation Day at the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments during an event for service members and military families.
