Doha, Qatar-based satellite operator Es’hailSat has chosen Harris subsidiary Harris CapRock Communications to build a very small-aperture terminal hub to support the Qatari company’s government and corporate clients.
Steve Brannan, a senior project manager at Harris CapRock, said Wednesday the business worked with multiple vendors to develop and install an “advanced” VSAT network for Es’hailSat under a tight deadline.
Harris CapRock obtained a government license in 2012 to provide VSAT services in Qatar.
Es’hailSat’ commercial satellite Es’hail, launched in 2013, is designed to support broadcasting, Internet and telecommunication operations of customers throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
SpaceX is scheduled to launch Es’hail-2 at Cape Canaveral, Florida, for the Qatari satellite operator in the first quarter of 2017, according to Harris CapRock.
