Raytheon has landed a potential $49.5 million contract by the U.S. Special Operations Command to continue low-rate initial production of the Silent Knight radar system.
The company’s space and airborne systems business will perform work in McKinney, Texas, and Forest, Mississippi, through October 2018 under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, the Defense Department said Tuesday.
The Silent Knight radar works to serve as a terrain following and avoidance system that could support deployment on multiple aircraft as well as provide navigation support, ground mapping and weather information.
Socom obligated $46 million at the time of the award from fiscal 2015 and 2016 procurement funds, DoD noted.
Funds will be released on a delivery/task order basis through a one-year ordering period.
