Navistar‘s defense business has received a $29.8 million contract modification to update more Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles of the U.S. Army.
Work under the contract modification covers 250 additional MaxxPro MRAP vehicles and the deal also includes an option for another 200 vehicles, the Defense Department said Tuesday.
MaxxPro is designed to defend against ballistic arms fire, mine blasts, improvised explosive devices and other threats.
The Army Contracting Command obligated the contract’s full amount at the time of award from the Army’s fiscal 2016 procurement, operations and maintenance funds.
Navistar Defense will conduct the vehicle update task in West Point, Mississippi, through May 31, 2017.
