The General Services Administration has selected a Unisys-built government cloud offering to participate in a pilot program that aims to expedite the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program certification process.
The FedRAMP Accelerated pilot initiative seeks to shorten the FedRAMP approval process to less than six months from the current time frame of six to 18 months, Unisys said Wednesday.
Unisys will provide its Service Management Government Cloud platform as one of the three cloud service providers chosen by GSA to take part in the pilot program.
“Ultimately, [the program] will mean greater availability of high-quality and more secure cloud services for government agencies,” said Matt Goodrich, FedRAMP director at GSA.
Unisys’ cloud offering has completed an initial security evaluation as part of the FedRAMP authorization process and works to help government clients perform situational awareness functions and access digital service management tools such as ServiceNow and BMC Remedy.
The pilot program is scheduled to wrap up in July.
