Harris has received $20 million in task orders from a U.S. Army organization to provide vehicle-based radios to service branch partners in Middle East and North Africa under the U.S.’ foreign military sales program.
Harris said Friday the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command will help those partner countries acquire the company’s Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System radios for use in ground vehicles.
Chris Young, president of Harris’ communications systems business, said that the radios are designed to give soldiers command-and-control functions and act as a “force multiplier” for armored vehicles on the front lines.
More than 30 countries use the SINCGARS platform as the backbone for ground-based radio communications, the company said.
