AECOM will provide engineering support services to help build and operate a utility gas infrastructure in Alaska under an agreement with Alaska Intrastate Gas Co.
The project will supply piped propane air mixture-based fuel to 17 southeastern communities in Alaska in order to meet the residents’ electricity generation, heating and industrial process demands, AECOM said Friday.
Larry Head, national practice leader for gas utilities at AECOM, said the company plans to begin the groundbreaking phase for the project with AIGCO by spring of 2016.
Construction work on the piping infrastructure and propane landing facility is scheduled to start in the Alaskan community of Cordova early this year.
