Aerojet Rocketdyne has received a potential two-year, $3 million contract to perform studies and hardware demonstration in support of the U.S. Air Force’s Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile platform.
The service branch awarded the contract as part of the ICBM Demonstration and Validation Post Boost Program, Aerojet Rocketdyne said Friday.
The program seeks to develop new platforms that could be used as future replacements to the ICBM’s post boost propulsion systems that work to support payload positioning and countermeasures deployment operations.
Aerojet Rocketdyne will carry out a down-selection process following the assessment of various propulsion systems and then conduct further evaluations of the platforms through hardware demonstrations.
