Raytheon has demonstrated an anti-ship missile defense system built for the U.S. Navy during a live-fire test at China Lake in California.
The SeaRAM defense system intercepted an inbound threat using a Rolling Airframe Missile Block 2 during the exercise, Raytheon said Monday.
Rick Nelson, vice president of Raytheon’s naval and area mission defense product line, said the system works to provide a layered defense for the Navy.
RAM Block 2 incorporates a new kinematics, radio frequency receiver and an updated control system.
Raytheon configured the SeaRAM system with a nearby Phalanx close-in weapon system for the demonstration.
