Lockheed Martin has selected ASRC Federal’s mission solutions business to help test and develop the Long Range Discrimination Radar system for the Missile Defense Agency.
ASRC Federal said Tuesday the LRDR system works to support the ballistic missile defense system in missile threat detection, interception and elimination.
Lockheed currently develops the LRDR platform under a potential nine-year, $784.3 million contract it received from MDA in October 2015.
ASRC Federal will provide components and software engineering support to Lockheed through its New Jersey office as well as support maintenance and construction work in Clear, Alaska, where Lockheed will develop and test the LRDR platform.
ASRC Federal said it expects to subject the radar system to operational tests by 2020.
