Orbital ATK has received orders from domestic and international customers for $105 million in medium- and large-caliber ammunition as part of an award through the U.S. Army‘s project manager for maneuver ammunition systems.
The company said Monday the contracts include 20-millimeter, 25-millimeter and 30-milimeter tactical and target practice ammunition such as the PGU-27 and PGU-28 incendiary, MK244 and M940 cartridges, M792 incendiary with tracer and self-destruct cartridge and MK266 incendiary rounds.
Orbital ATK will manufacture the 20-millimeter rounds at the company-operated Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Missouri.
The large-caliber orders are for the 120-millimeter M829A4 “kinetic energy” anti-tank cartridge and 120-millimeter M1002 Multi-Purpose Anti-Tank target practice cartridge for the Abrams Main Battle Tank.
Orbital ATK plans to begin full-rate production of the M829A4 in early 2016.
