TCSlogoTeleCommunication Systems has been awarded a six-year, $20 million contract extension to continue to provide integration and management services related to the implementation of its emergency communications platform across Tennessee.

Tennessee residents will continue to use TCS’ Next Generation 9-1-1 system to place calls and send emergency texts, videos and photos to communication dispatchers via the state’s Internet Protocol network until January 2021, TCS said Tuesday.

The extension to the 2011 contract also covers the provision of a cloud-based geographic information system database management tool, location validation and identification, process management, data delivery and network operations center services.

“As Tennesseans become increasingly mobile, it is important that our emergency 9-1-1 services are up to task in successfully handling incoming calls – whether from a landline, VoIP or wireless device,” said Curtis Sutton, executive director of the Tennessee Emergency Communications Board.
