SBA Picks Orbital ATK for Tibbetts Small Business Research Award; Mike Kahn Comments

Orbital ATK has received a Tibbetts Small Business Innovative Research Award from the Small Business Administration in recognition of the company’s work on an air-to-surface tactical missile platform.

“The [Advanced Anti-Radiation Guided Missile] program is an excellent example of how partnering between industry, the U.S. Navy and SBA can leverage the innovation and technology generated by small businesses and the SBIR program to provide the affordable and effective solutions needed by the warfighter,” Mike Kahn, president of Orbital ATK’s defense systems group and an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 list for 2015, said Monday.

According to the company, AARGM falls under the Defense Department’s Acquisition Category I program and is being developed by Orbital ATK with the Navy and the Italian Air Force.

The supersonic tactical missile system is designed to work with Tornado electronic combat and reconnaissance aircraft and EA-18G and F/A-18A-F electronic fighter jets.
