MH60R-helicopterThe Danish Business Authority has given approval to Sikorsky Aircraft, Lockheed Martin, CAE and General Electric to begin the initial phase of projects with Danish companies to provide MH-60R Seahawk helicopters for Denmark’s defense ministry.

Sikorsky Aircraft said Monday the four U.S.-based contractors will deliver nine Seahawk helicopers to the U.S. Navy as part of a foreign military sales agreement with Denmark.

“Currently, the four companies have fulfilled or initiated activities covering 50 percent of the total obligation,” said Anders Hoffmann, DBA deputy general director.

Sikorsky said it will collaborate with Danish companies Terma, Sky-Watch, Bruel & Kjaer and Multicut to develop composite panels, survivability equipment, software and other parts for the MH-60R helicopters.

Lockheed will work with Systematic, SSBV-Rovsing and Weibel Scientific A/S to develop an electronic warfare platform and solar array simulator, while GE Aviation will coordinate with Terma and Lockheed to develop an optical tool designed to detect a satellite’s space orientation, dubbed Star Tracker, according to Sikorsky.

CAE will develop a flight training simulator with IFAD A/S and Systematic.

Sikorsky noted that the four companies plan to invest more than $452 million in Denmark’s defense sector by 2022 as part of the cooperation projects with Danish firms.
