Otto Berkes, formerly chief technology officer of HBO, has been appointed to the same position at CA Technologies.
His appointment is effective June 15 and he will report directly to CEO Mike Gregoire, CA said Monday.
“Otto believes in relentless focus on customer experience and the kind of cutting-edge engineering that will drive CA to new levels of innovation in the application economy,” Gregoire said.
Berkes oversaw the development of HBO’s online streaming service Go and led enterprise technology operations at the pay television company.
He is also an 18-year veteran of Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and helped create the Xbox brand.
He also led the technology firm’s DirectX and OpenGL graphics technology development groups as well as helped develop mobile architectures and user interfaces during his tenure there.
Before that, he held a senior developer role at Autodesk and Vermont Microsystems.
