The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has chosen a Parsons-led team to help create emergency response plans that aim to lay out strategies to respond to crude oil train incidents.
Parsons said Thursday it will collaborate with OBG and Gallagher Marine Systems to develop the geographic plans, which also intend to direct the deployment of equipment for use in oil spill response efforts within the state’s rail corridors.
Virginia Grebbien, Parsons group president, said the efforts of NYSDEC to improve oil spill response operations are associated with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order 125, which seeks to safeguard the state’s residents and environment from risks posed by crude oil train transport.
Parsons said the response plans are slated for completion by April 2016.
