John Kreger, formerly executive director of Mitre’s enterprise systems engineering office, has been appointed vice president and director of the nonprofit organization’s Homeland Security Systems Engineering and Development Institute.
He will work to direct and oversee HSSEDI’s operations and resource management to carry out the Department of Homeland Security’s acquisition processes, risk and program management and information technology engineering, Mitre said Tuesday.
Kreger succeeds Barbara Toohill, who retired in May.
“John’s leadership, broad experience, technical acuity, and understanding of the HSSEDI mission make him exceptionally well suited to assume this important role,†said Alfred Grasso, Mitre’s president and CEO.
Kreger previously served as senior technical adviser to U.S. Army program executive office for command, control and communications-tactical.
He was also the director of integration for homeland security for the past six years, during which Kreger established technical priorities and steered research investments.
