Harris Corp. has conducted a limited user test of its Mid-tier Networking Vehicular Radio during the U.S. Army’s Network Integration Evaluation 15.3 operation at Fort Bliss in Texas.
The company said Thursday it sought to validate the video, voice and data sharing capability of MNVR among soldiers across company, battalion and brigade levels and verify network routing configurations in 23 cases.
Harris said it will assess the test results prior to the initial operation review by spring of 2016.
“These tests are important because they subject the radios to a wide range of operational and environmental conditions that soldiers may face during real-world missions,” said George Helm, president of Harris RF Communications’ Defense Department business.
“The MNVR LUT is a great example of the benefits of defense marketplace competition because it demonstrates the value of private sector innovation to quickly bring better solutions from concept to fielding.”
