Harris, exactEarth Forge Vessel Tracking Partnership; Bill Gattle, Peter Mabson Comment

Harris and Canada-based exactEarth have forged an alliance that seeks to provide services designed to improve domain awareness at sea using the automatic identification system platform.

The partnership will combine Harris satellite and radio frequency communications technology with exactEarth’s signal decollision detection system to create real-time vessel tracking and information products for the maritime market, Harris said Monday.

Bill Gattle, vice president and general manager for national programs at Harris Government Communications Systems, said the team-up will leverage the company’s IntelliEarth family of global weather tools.

Peter Mabson, president of exactEarth, also indicated his company’s mission to provide clients with the best maritime intelligence it could offer through the strategic alliance.

“The new capabilities that we are building through our relationship with Harris will allow us to significantly expand the range of advanced value-added services and information solutions that we can bring to the global maritime market.”
