DigitalGlobe has expressed its support for a commercial remote sensing bill authored by Reps. Jim Bridenstine (R-Ok) and Ed Perlmutter (D-Co).
The Commercial Remote Sensing Act of 2015 mandates the examination of the Commerce Department’s regulatory workload and the submission of reports on commercial remote sensing license applications to Congress, DigitalGlobe said Wednesday.
That bill would require the commerce secretary to make the annual report in collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Advisory Committee on Commercial Remote Sensing and other agencies.
“Updates to U.S. commercial remote sensing regulations and oversight are necessary to keep pace with the accelerating technological innovation that is spurring growth in our domestic industry,” said Walter Scott, a DigitalGlobe executive vice president and general manager.
“DigitalGlobe fully supports the passage of the Commercial Remote Sensing Act of 2015 and applauds Reps. Bridenstine and Perlmutter for their leadership on this important issue.”
