Boeing has concluded maintenance work on the U.S. Air Force’s E-4B airborne strategic command and control military aircraft ahead of schedule at its San Antonio facility.
The company said Wednesday the work is part of a contract that calls for it to service each of the aircraft’s systems every four years.
The Boeing 747-200-based aircraft works as a mobile command post that serves the U.S. president and defense secretary, among others, during conflicts.
Apart from the E-4B fleet, the company also services the military branch’s C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft and KC-135 aerial refuelling planes at the San Antonio site.
