Amazon Web Services has unveiled a new cloud program intended to help educators train students on cloud applications.

AWS Educate is designed for educators to find cloud-related course content, integrate cloud technology into their curriculum and conduct actual cloud-related training with students, AWS said Thursday.

“Based on the feedback and success of our grant recipients and the global need for cloud-skilled workers, we developed AWS Educate to help even more students learn cloud technology firsthand in the classroom,” said Teresa Carlson, vice president of worldwide public sector at AWS.

Using the cloud tool, educators and students can gain credits for various AWS services, receive web-based training and self-paced laboratories, access collaboration forums for in-person and virtual events and develop coursework with cloud technology.

AWS Educate contains materials such as full courses, syllabi, lectures and homework assignments uploaded by educators from Harvard University, Stanford University, Cornell Tech and other educational institutions.

AWS offers the tool as a free service for educational institutions, educators and students.
