Fluor has won a contract to provide the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic project management support for a new oil and gas processing and petrochemical complex near Baku, Azerbaijan.
The company said Wednesday it will help SOCAR select contractors to provide procurement, engineering, construction, commissioning and startup services for the complex and some offsite facilities.
Taco de Haan, president of Fluor’s energy and chemicals business in Europe, Africa and the Middle East, said the company has previously worked on managing the safety, quality and costs of other “megaprojects.”
Fluor will perform work beginning this quarter from its office in Farnborough in the U.K.
Gulgiz Dadashova of AzerNews reported Nov. 5 that the OGPCÂ site will include a thermal power plant and three processing facilities.
The construction project works to bolster Azerbaijan’s export capacity and meet the country’s fuel needs, the report said.
