The Massachusetts Institute of Technology has partnered with BAE Systems, Boeing, Raytheon, BP and BBVA to establish a collaborative research program to tackle cybersecurity issues on a larger scale, the Boston Business Journal reported Monday.
Sara Castellanos writes Howard Shrobe, principal research scientist at MIT’s computer science and artificial intelligence laboratory, said the Cybersecurity@CSAIL initiative seeks to build tools that can help organizations prevent, manage and recover from web-based attacks.
Bill Kiczuk, a vice president and chief technology officer at Raytheon, told the Biz Journal in an email that the program offers the private sector an opportunity to work with MIT’s security engineers and specialists.
MIT News reported Thursday the university also launched the MIT Cybersecurity Policy Initiative and the Interdisciplinary Consortium for Improving Critical Infrastructure in Cybersecurity.
The university aims to address technical, policy and organizational challenges associated with cybersecurity through the three platforms.
