Inmarsat moved closer to fully deploying its $1.6-billion Global Xpress satellite constellation with the conclusion of testing for land terminals from Paradigm Communications and Skyware Technologies.
Paradigm met over the air testing and factory acceptance testing requirements for its GX core interface module and Connect 70, Connect 100 and Connect 180 fixed VSAT terminals, Inmarsat said Sept. 15.
Skyware submitted for testing its SKY 98 and SKY 180 fixed terminals and ATOM 65 lightweight flyaway terminal, it added.
David Schoen, vice president for product and service development at Inmarsat, indicated that the completed tests are a “substantial step forward in the journey towards worldwide commercial service introduction of GX.
“We look forward to the equally successful completion of the final phases of testing,†Schoen.
Inmarsat’s global GX KA-band satellite system, set for full deployment in early 2015, offers to enable mobile high-speed connection and services on land, at sea and in the air.
