Exelis has delivered the first nine ALQ-214(V)4/5 electronic self-protection systems as part of the Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures suite installed on the U.S. Navy‘s F-18 aircraft fleet.
Joe Rambala, vice president and general manager of Exelis’ integrated electronic warfare systems business, said Wednesday this latest onboard jammer features software programmability and a more compact form factor.
The ALQ-214(V)4/5, manufactured at the Exelis Electronic Systems plant in New Jersey, is designed to protect aircraft from enemy radio frequency signals and other electronic warfare.
According to Rambala, the company has supported the Navy’s mission on electronic warfare for the past 16 years.
