Battelle has launched the latest version of its HELM Flow software to help grid transmission modelers and planners at utility companies manage transmission networks and response to grid problems.
“When planning transmission on the grid, the small subset of about 5 percent of the problems cause the biggest headaches,” Jason Black, grid team research leader at Battelle, said Tuesday.
The simulation and analysis software is designed to pinpoint the grid’s critical nodes and perform diagnostics and contingency analysis to mitigate future problems.
The tool is built to help compute of operational parameters to inform the assessment of grid configurations and development of grid solutions, Battelle said.
Battelle is the distributor of the Gridquant-developed HELM Flow technology.
