SAS Helps Alabama Medicaid Agency Integrate Healthcare Data; Paula Henderson Comments

SAS is working to help the Alabama Medicaid Agency view and consolidate data related to illnesses, treatments and costs.

The agency uses SAS Visual Analytics to gather and analyze data from claims and medical electronic data exchange sources, SAS said Tuesday.

“Our goal is to capture and analyze data not only to better allocate Medicaid’s limited resources but also to improve health care quality as a part of our overall transformation,” said Robert Moon, Alabama Medicaid Agency medical director.

“The agency can quickly investigate millions of rows of data, break down expenses and outcomes in detailed and useful ways, and use the reports to drive policy,” added Paula Henderson, vice president of SAS state and local government practice.

SAS Visual Analytics users are able to view patterns, identify opportunities for analysis and share results through charts, graphs and animations on mobile devices.
