Pitney Bowes will provide its MapInfo technology to Queensland, Australia’s Noosa Shire Council as a geographic information systems platform for programs on planning, environment and emergency response, among others.
GeoCommunity Spatial News reported Friday the cloud-based MapInfo Stratus mapping offering is expected to provide the community with 24/7 access to services from any location.
“The Pitney Bowes MapInfo solution will allow us to make better decisions more quickly across the organisation because essential information is now at the fingertips of every staff member,” said Brett de Chastel, the council’s CEO.
De Chastel added they intend to empower and engage the local community and visitors through the service.
The map-based information system will be designed to provide location of infrastructure, transportation network, utility services and other information.
According to de Chastel, the offering is part of the Noosa Shire Council’s program to provide self-serve access to public services through location intelligence technology.
