Norm O’Meara, a senior fellow at consulting firm LMI, helped the National Research Council carry out its efforts to assess current U.S. air traffic control staffing and operating practices.
LMI said Tuesday that O’Meara served as staff coordinator for the 12-person team that conducted air traffic control research at 315 facilities nationwide, as mandated by Congress.
Part of the study focused on the LMI-supported transportation system modernization project at NASA and the Federal Aviation Administration to move from radar- to satellite-based systems.
By applying modeling and data analytics techniques, the team released a report of its findings on June 13.
O’Meara holds 20 years of experience in workforce planning, resource allocation and manpower management for government units, including his work for the Defense Department on depot maintenance and base realignment issues.
He is also currently a member of the expert panel evaluating FAA’s staffing for safety inspector.
