F5 Networks has moved to bolster its portfolio of security platforms against distributed-denial-of-service-attacks by purchasing Defense.Net Inc. for an undisclosed amount.
The companies aim to develop an integrated cybersecurity offering for organizations to avoid DDoS attacks on networks, applications and data center infrastructures, F5 said Thursday.
“F5’s objective is to help protect customers from ever-changing security threats before they impact their businesses,†said Manny Rivelo, F5 executive vice president of strategic solutions.
“Customers ultimately want a unified solution that seamlessly blocks DDoS attacks at the appropriate network location for the type of threat posed,” Rivelo added.
Defense.Net’s cloud-based technology is designed to support multiple network protocols and address threat vectors without affecting the performance of applications, according to F5.
F5 says it does not expect the transaction to have a signicant impact on the company’s operating results.
